Accessory Mount (1/4″-20)

From: $115.00

Patented SnapPlate removable front license plate mounts install and completely remove in seconds, but that’s not all they can do. The modular design lets us mix and match bases for different Tesla models with plate mounts for different countries and now we’re adding a 1/4″-20 accessory mount to the mix. It can be used with many different accessories like cameras and lights that use a 1/4″-20 threaded connection. The base can be installed in multiple locations on the grille and multiple bases can be used at the same time.

SnapPlates are designed, printed, and assembled in California by Tesla owners and fans. We strive to reduce our environmental impact by using Prusa 3D printers to make strong parts with internal structures that optimize our use of plastics and by offsetting our 3D-printer farm’s energy with Tesla Solar and Powerwalls.

Features

Paint-Safe*:

Once installed, SnapPlate sits away from the paint and is strong enough to resist wind and weather without touching the bumper. Take care during installation to not touch the painted parts of the car.

Grille-Safe*:

SnapPlate has four latches that fit perfectly through and behind the grille openings to install, but then rotate to hold. They hold it firmly in place without stressing the plastic grille. It’s also flexible enough to not break the grille if it is accidentally pushed into the bumper.

Radiator-Safe*:

At less than three inches wide, it barely blocks the grille opening and the area behind it isn’t even open to the radiator so there’s no loss of airflow.

Autopilot-Safe:

Autopilot uses a radar behind the front bumper that you don’t want to block, so SnapPlate holds the plate in nearly the same position as the factory plate mount.

*SnapPlate won’t damage paint, block airflow to the radiator, or damage the grille when installed correctly and used under normal circumstances. In the event of an accident this product is not intended to provide protection to prevent vehicle damage and we are not liable for any damages to any vehicles, people, or any objects caused as a result of the use of this product.

Unapologetically Printed

3D printing enables us to create a very strong product with an internal structure that is 90% air. That makes it strong while using far less plastic than other processes.

Injection molding is great for making millions of simple things, but it’s very expensive for small quantities of complicated things like this. If not for 3D printing, SnapPlate probably wouldn’t exist or it would cost much more.

One consideration of 3D printing is that the surface finish is different from injection molded parts. Since it makes the parts one layer at a time, it has some distinct features. Here some examples:

Layers – parts are printed one layer at a time

Steps – the layers are visible as steps on slanted surfaces

Strings – fine, easily-removable strings are sometimes left behind

Small Holes – where the printer changes layers

FAQ

What is your return policy?

If you’re not satisfied, you have 30 days to return SnapPlate for a full refund. See our returns and refunds policy for details.

What is the warranty?

We’ll give you 180 days to make sure it can hold up to your local weather. See our returns and refunds policy for details.

Can I use a license plate holder or frame with SnapPlate?

If the frame is 1/4″ (6mm) or less then the included 10mm screws will work fine. If you need longer, we have 16mm and 20mm available.

Are SnapPlates car wash safe?

Most touchless car washes are ok, but touch washes aren’t safe for this or any other aftermarket license plate mount. There’s just too much risk of damaging the plastic grille or bumper on the vehicle to not recommend removing it for all automated car washes. It’s one of the reasons we made SnapPlates quick and easy to remove, but if keeping it on for car washes is important to you, we can really only recommend the factory adhesive or screw mount for your vehicle.

We know things happen though, so we offer low-cost replacement parts for everything we make. We’d much rather replace inexpensive SnapPlate parts than see a vehicle damaged.

If SnapPlate is so easy to remove, won’t it be easy to steal?

If someone knows enough to steal it, they should know that they’ll be staring at the front Sentry camera while they’re doing it, but if theft is a concern for you, just screw the included security screw into the hole in the side of SnapPlate to make it much harder to remove.

Do you sell spare parts? For how much?

Can I get the files to print my own parts?

Not at this time, but we plan to open source it in the future when making them ourselves is no longer fun.

Will SnapPlate fade in the sun?

PETG plastic is UV stable, but when it is mounted on the car, there is very little direct sun on it anyway.

Will wind push the plate against the bumper? What about speed bumps?

We tested SnapPlate at over 80 mph and over sharp speed bumps at 20 mph with no issues. Check out our deflection testing video:
