This page provides a comprehensive guide for installing the SnapPlate on the Ford F-150 Lightning EV 2022+. Follow the step-by-step instructions to achieve a secure and perfect fit for your vehicle’s front plate.

How to Install the SnapPlate on Ford F-150 Lightning EV 2022+

Installation

    Step 1

    Before installing a license plate, test fit the SnapPlate on the bumper to check for any needed adjustments.

    First, press both sliders inward and hold.

    Next, insert SnapPlate into the top of the center bumper opening and release both sliders.

    Note: Bumper trim is shown removed from vehicle.

    Step 3

    Pull the sliders outward until they are flush with the vertical bars on the bumper.

    If the fit is too tight, make sure it’s at the top of the opening as shown in Step 2. If it’s still too tight, adjust the fit following the Bumper Depth Adjustment instructions. ☝️

    Step 4

    Plate mounts are shipped in the high position by default. If you prefer a different position, follow the Plate Height Adjustment instructions ☝️ to adjust before continuing.

    Step 5

    Install your license plate (and optional side trim) using four of the included black or silver torx security screws.

    Note: As of October 2023, side trim has been integrated into the plate mount and is no longer a separate optional part. For legacy versions, see the Side Trim Installation instructions. ☝️

    Step 6

    Press both sliders inward and hold.

    Step 7

    Insert the SnapPlate into the top of the center grille opening and release both sliders.

    Step 8

    Important! Pull the sliders outward to ensure that they are fully secured on the bumper and the magnets are engaged.

    Step 9

    Check that the sliders are in line with the vertical bars on the grille to confirm SnapPlate is secure and the magnets are fully engaged.

    Step 10

    Optionally, install two black washer head anti-theft security screws in the holes on both of the sliders.

    Note: If the screw doesn’t reach, make sure the sliders are fully engaged from Step 5.

    Step 11

    Don’t forget to remove SnapPlates for automated car washes. Most touchless washes are fine, but better to be on the safe side!

Bumper Depth Adjustment

    Step 1

    Locate the T25 torx screws.

    • Go to Step 2 to loosen
    • Go to Step 3 to tighten

    Step 2

    Turn each screw counterclockwise (lefty loosey) 1/2 turn to loosen by 0.25mm and try the fit on the grille.

    Repeat as needed.

    Step 3

    Turn each screw clockwise (righty tighty) 1/2 turn to tighten by 0.25mm and try the fit on the grille.

    Repeat as needed.

Plate Height Adjustment

    Step 1

    F-150 Lightning SnapPlates ship in the high position by default, but are adjustable into 5 possible positions. We recommend high for the best airflow to the radiator.

    Step 2

    Remove the two screws holding the plate mount to the body.


    - For installation in the high position go to Step 3.
    - For installation in the center position go to Step 4.
    - For installation in the low position go to Step 5.

    Step 3 (High)

    Position the plate mount with the bottom lined up with the body and install screws.

    • Go to Step 6

    Step 4 (center)

    Position the plate mount with the middle holes in line with the middle of the base. Install screws.

    • Go to Step 6

    Position the plate mount with the bottom holes in line with the top holes in the base. Install screws.

    • Go to Step 6

    Install the license plate using four of the included black or silver security screws.

Side Trim Installation

    Step 1

    Remove both license plate screws from one side.

    Insert one side trim between the license plate and plate mount.

    Reinstall both license plate screws.
    Repeat for the other side.
