Plate mounts are shipped in the high position by default. If you prefer a different position, follow the Plate Height Adjustment instructions ☝️ to adjust before continuing.
Install your license plate using four of the included black or silver torx security screws.
Press the left side of the actuator to rotate the latches open.
Insert into the center of the grille.
Press the bottom side of the actuator to rotate into locked position.
Make sure actuator is flush with SnapPlate body to make sure it is locked in place.
Optionally, install a black anti-theft security screw in the hole on the right side.
Don’t forget to remove SnapPlates for automated car washes. Most touchless washes are fine, but better to be on the safe side!
Tesla SnapPlates ship in the high position by default, but are adjustable into 3 possible positions. We recommend high for the best airflow to the grille.
Remove the two screws holding the plate mount to the joint.
Position the plate mount with the bottom holes lined up with the joint and install screws.
Position the plate mount with middle holes aligned the joint. Install screws.
Rotate the plate mount 180 degrees and align the holes with the joint. Install screws.
If not already installed, install the license plate using four of the included black or silver security screws.
Tesla SnapPlates come with a solid joint that connects the plate mount to the base. The solid joint can be replaced with a breakaway joint for additional grille safety.
Looking at the top of the SnapPlate, unscrew the top two screws releasing the plate mount from the body.
With the plate mount off the body, find the two screws on the front and unscrew them, releasing the mount from the joint.
Align the joint with the plate mount in the desired height position.
Screw in the mount to the joint, making sure that the joint and mount are tight together.
Take your SnapPlate body and align the mount and screw in the joint to the body. Make sure to tighten in up.
