It's Not Just You
The hitch cover on the Model Y has multiple clips on all sides that make it surprisingly difficult to remove and easy to damage. We used universal pry tools at first, but found that they were damaging the cover, so we made our own custom solution.
Our tools:
- Are the right width, length, and thickness to match the clips on the Tesla Model Y hitch cover

You may also want to modify the cover to reduce the number of clips and make it much easier to remove as shown here:

So glad we picked this up. We tried to use plastic spudger tools from computer repair kit and other tools from the garage but could not get the tow hitch cover plate off. This tool works perfectly.
